POCONOS MOUNTAINS CHAPTER
DANIEL G. BRAUN is an active volunteer in a variety
of capacities and has been instrumental in re-estab-lishing the Poconos Mountains Chapter. He routinely
brings senior U.S. Defense Department speakers to
the chapter and has hosted numerous joint meetings
at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He recently obtained not-for-profit status for the chapter with the government, thus allowing access
for AFCEA meetings to be held at Tobyhanna. He has been instrumental
in developing an officer cadre for the chapter over many years .
He has more than 40 years experience as a military leader and corporate
executive in operations, engineering and program management positions
related to communications and computer systems. As a U.S. Army Signal
Corps lieutenant, he joined AFCEA and is now a lifetime member. In the
past 20 years, he has been involved in support of the Washington, D.C.,
Northern Virginia, Fort Belvoir and Pocono Mountains chapters.
Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Braun spent nine years in executive positions with EDS. He served as the EDS representative to the National Coordinating Center for Telecommunications, advising the Department of Homeland Security on issues of government-industry policy, information sharing
and collaboration with regard to securing the nation’s critical infrastructure.
Earlier, he served as both business development executive and account executive, in which he provided executive oversight and management for as many
as 30 simultaneous orders for information technology services in support of
21 Defense Department customers in the national capital region.
Braun previously served a career in the U.S. Army, culminating as the
deputy director of architecture on the Department of the Army headquarters staff. In this assignment, he supervised the integration of the Army’s
telecommunications and information technology architectural efforts with
direct impact on the procurement of $269 million in information technology
Earlier in his Army career, Braun held a variety of positions in the
Defense Communications Agency. Initially, he managed the communications support of the National Military Command Center in the Pentagon.
Later, he managed the operation of all deployable assets of the Defense
Communications System and was deployed as the agency’s operations
manager for operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He then became
the acting J- 6 of U.S. Central Command–Forward.
Braun also served in two Joint Programs and held a number of command and operational positions during his Army career.
