HAPPY NEW YEAR!
There are three things to start thinking about as the new year begins. First,
it’s time to make plans to attend West
February 21-23 in San Diego. Come
support Young AFCEAN award winners and join us for the first-ever Young
AFCEAN panel, “Federal Acquisition
in the Cyber Domain: Innovation to
Implementation.” Panelists will address
the rapidly changing domain, which
presents many challenges for the acquisition community because it requires
speed, agility and precision in both
operations and capability development.
We also will be having no-host nights
out for all Young AFCEANs to get to
know each other and have some fun.
We hope you will join us for an exciting
event in California!
Second, nominations are now being
accepted for positions on the Young
AFCEAN Advisory Council’s executive
committee. Open positions include co-president National Capital Region, co-vice president Europe and vice president
of committees and external operations.
If you are interested in applying, email
Sarah Christensen at schristensen@
afcea.org for the form. Voting will take
place during the business meetings held
before West on February 20.
Finally, nominations are now open
for a brand new, Young AFCEAN-led honor—the 40 Under 40 Award.
We are looking to recognize up-and-coming technology professionals and
thought leaders who are making great
achievements in their careers, specifically through the use of information technology or innovation in a
science, technology, engineering or
mathematics (STEM) field. Nominations may be for active-duty service
members, government civilians and
members of industry or academia.
Winners will be recognized at the
Defense Cyber Operations Symposium in June. Nominations are due
March 3. To nominate an individual,

website, www.afcea.org, under the
