Thales has launched a compact, 3-D tactical Ground
Master 60 radar intended for use with short- and extremely
short-range weapon systems. A company statement
describes it as “the only multimission radar capable of
detecting all types of targets while on the move” and says it
can be deployed on a vehicle.
The new radar provides situational awareness of the air picture for increased protection during missions. It complements
Ground Master medium- and long-range radars and improves
theater force protection.
The Ground Master 60 detects rockets, artillery shells and
mortars. The radar includes both a generator and air conditioning for high reliability and increased mobility. It also
expands air cover to protect sensitive zones, such as medium-range radar sites, and it can be operated statically.

Contrast Enterprise software can find and fix application
vulnerabilities during development and monitor and block
application attacks during production, all within one unified
environment. The result, Contrast Security officials say, is continuous security visibility, assessment and protection in real
time and in parallel across an entire application portfolio.
Contrast uses patented deep security instrumentation that
automatically weaves defensive capabilities into applications
without requiring additional changes or security experts.
While apps are running, highly accurate context is instantly
generated about vulnerabilities and attacks.
The technology adds sensors and actuators to applications
at runtime. Instrumentation produces data that enables teams
across the enterprise to manage and control app security.

Detection and Defense
The Rohde & Schwarz R&S ARDRONIS radio-monitoring solution allows authorized law enforcement agencies to locate the operator of a remote-controlled microdrone and quickly intervene to prevent
nefarious behaviors, such as industrial espionage, privacy invasions and trespassing over protected spaces.
R&S ARDRONIS monitors signals in the frequency
bands most relevant to microdrone remote controls.
It has an extensive library of signal profiles to identify
and classify these types of signals and to detect the
remote control of a commercial microdrone within a
1-kilometer (0.62-mile) radius.
The system can be equipped with a direction-finding
function to locate the person with the remote control.
If the drone transmits a video downlink, that signal
also will be located, and the information will be clearly
displayed on a map. Options include the ability to
interrupt drone-control signals without interfering
with other signals in the environment.
At the 2015 G7 summit, the underlying R&S
ARDRONIS technologies helped secure the sites from
unauthorized remote-controlled drones. With a simplified operating concept, the system is now available for
a wide range of users.
