Air Force bases, as well as several industry
partners. The meeting included a luncheon
and an informal Networking on the Green
golf event. Col. Patrick Flood, USAF, the
548th Intelligence Surveillance and Recon-
naissance Group commander, served as
keynote speaker. In his speech, Col. Flood
recalled the Air Force’s origins in the U.S.
Army Signal Corps and how that heritage
continues to fuel military communications-
intelligence synergy as an essential element
of modern military combat operations.

Chapter Awards Scholarships
to Grad Students
In June, the chapter welcomed Saura
Naderi, a graduate student from the Univer-
sity of California, San Diego, and founder of
My Lab, a program designed to give young
students who show an interest in engineer-
ing an opportunity to experiment and gain
hands-on knowledge of the subject. Subse-
quently, the chapter awarded $5,000 each in
scholarship money to two prominent gradu-
ate students who are pursuing their careers in
math education. The recipients were Ashley
Sprigg and Linjue Cao.
Local Students Recognized

their families in April at its spring luncheon.
